JBL NovoMalawi Cichlid Food 1 Litre
JBL NovoMalawi Cichlid Food (40g)
- Contains 38 % high quality spirulina algae that are rich in protein (S. platensis) + plankton.
- Studies in the lakes of the Great Rift Valley have shown that algae-grazing cichlids eat diatom and blue-green algae (Cyanophyceen), and not green algae as often presumed!
- Does not cloud the water.
- Dermatologically tested.
Although the food is called JBL Malawi, it is intended for the bio-film grazing cichlids from both lakes. Because the most popular cichlids of Lake Malawi are the limnivores (e.g. Pseudotropheus), this food was given the name Malavi. JBL NovoTanganjika has been developed for the predatory species. This food is, of course, also suitable for the predators from Lake Malawi. Due to the consumption of insect larvae and crustaceans the natural food for most tropical ornamental fish has a protein/fat ratio of about 4:1. Only fish predators get a higher protein content through the protein-rich fish meat they eat. Their food has a P/F ratio of approx. 12:1. Our competition mostly provides food with a P/F rate of about 2.5:1. This food contains too much fat! For fish in the aquarium, which are often less active than in their natural habitat, this leads to fatty degeneration and thus to a vulnerability to disease or death. JBL has adapted its food ranges to the species-appropriate P/F ratios.
